About
Hi, I’m Sonya!
To create this life has meant healing in a multi-dimensional way. In the beginning, I believed that my back pain required a physical solution. While that was certainly true to an extent, I came to understand the web connected to my low back also included threads to the physical, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual dimensions of living. Healing frequently means addressing more than one dimension.
The other thing you need to know about me is that I’m that person. Not only will I tell everyone who will listen what I am currently learning about in my life and how great it is but how it could potentially help them too! I believe in relationship and community (or what I refer to as Common-Unity) because life is naturally more fun and meaningful when we do life together.
If I’m learning a thing, I’m teaching that thing because it is in the act of teaching that I integrate and embody the technique or concept. And seriously, not to worry. Long ago my curiosity led me to learn (and teach, of course) about healthy, relational boundaries. While I will certainly TELL you all about what I’m up to and I will absolutely invite you to come along, I support your sovereignty and right to choose what is best for you.
Beyond that, I live on an island in the Pacific Northwest with The Husband (Michael) and The Cat (Meowsie) where I am constantly in awe and gratitude for the life we’ve created. I am a dedicated daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to the people in my life. The guiding principle of my life is that “Love is All that Matters.”

Credentials
I am a Level 5 MELT Instructor which is currently the most training one can take within the MELT Method system. As such, I am experienced teaching ALL the various techniques using ALL the various tools. This includes Hand and Foot Treatments using the Therapy Ball Kits, Soft Roller Moves and Maps with the MELT Soft Roller and Neuro-Strength frequently done with a Resistance Band.
I wanted to take all available training in this modality primarily because I’ve experienced firsthand getting and staying out of pain and I’ve witnessed this outcome for my students. Secondly, I hold great fascination and reverence for the human body! Learning from a remarkable teacher of anatomy and movement like Sue Hitzmann is always fun and a worthwhile investment of time.
I am a graduate of the Barbara Brennan School of Healing, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in energy healing and a two-year advanced degree to integrate hands-on healing with psychotherapeutic modalities.
We call our modality Brennan Healing Science (BHS). BHS is considered a complementary modality and honors all other medical and healing traditions. A strong medical focus, including college-level anatomy and physiology classes, has prepared me to work with clients with both acute pain and serious illnesses. Energy healing is not intended to replace traditional medical care.
The two-year advanced degree gives me the title of Brennan Integrated Practitioner (BIP). BIP sessions are where I teach people to track their mind-body connection and work through whatever is getting in the way of loving the Self.
Since 2013, I have been a Daring Way Trained Facilitator which is emotional process work based on the writings and teaching of Brené Brown. This has been some of the most meaningful group work I’ve ever done. I’ve facilitated both the Rising Strong curriculum and the Daring Greatly curriculum. These classes teach clients about emotions and triggers as well as teaching tools for staying connected to themselves while being in relationships with others.
My work as a Daring Way Trained Facilitator led me to create my own class material over the years resulting in classes titled “Relational Boundaries” and a “Becoming an Emotional Scientist” to name of couple of fan favorites. While I am not currently facilitating group work, it is not out of the scope of possibility especially since running groups is powerful and important both to students and to me.
Beyond these specific credentials, my curiosity has led me to many different experiences which, in turn, have influenced my offerings to students and clients. My ongoing journey to embody more love, care and acceptance of my Self deepens my ability to help others do the same.
